My Approach

As a Certified Narrative Enneagram teacher, I follow the model of the Narrative Tradition which has three branches.

Psychological

Each type has different unconscious mental and emotional patterns based on specific needs and inner motivations. As we develop our inner observers and notice these patterns we can pause and allow ourselves to make new and positive choices.

Spiritual

This work is not based on any religious tradition, it is based on the ability to become receptive to something greater than ourselves. Some participants might call this God, the Divine, Creator, or simply consciousness or awareness. We do practices that invite more receptivity into our lives.

Somatic

Our bodies hold the patterns of the types we lead with and give us important information about the present moment. We do practices that support us being present in our bodies, to notice the type patterning in our bodies and the information our bodies are providing to us in the present moment.

The Narrative Tradition believes each person is the expert on the type they identify with. If there are enough participants, I use the panel method where participants are interviewed and given the opportunity to speak about themselves. If there is a small group, I facilitate space for each participant to speak about their lived experience.

I also integrate practices I have found healing in my own life, self-compassion, journalling, poetry, music, and nature. It is important for me to create a warm confidential space where inner wisdom, inclusivity and diversity are honored.

The Enneagram System is not a replacement for therapy, you may consider therapy as an additional support for your growth and development.

About DK

As well as being a Certified Narrative Enneagram teacher (CNET) and poet, I have also worked as a registered nurse, registered massage therapist and Reiki practitioner. The common theme throughout my career has been a belief in holistic healing and each person’s innate inner wisdom.

I am passionate about teaching the Enneagram. My work as a facilitator encourages participants to discover and work with the gifts and challenges of their type, allowing them the freedom to connect with their essential self and make new and life-affirming choices in their lives.
