The Enneagram

A tool for personal and collective transformation.  First, determine your own type, then explore ever-deepening personal and professional development.

Enneagram Personality Theory is a bridge to personal growth, better relationships, and life-changing transformation. It is based on nine different personality types, each with their own distinct patterns of thinking, feeling, and acting, inner motivations and worldviews. Understanding our connection to these types allows us to observe our habitual patterns and make positive changes in our lives.

About DK

As well as being a Certified Narrative Enneagram teacher (CNET) and poet, I have also worked as a registered nurse, registered massage therapist and Reiki practitioner. The common theme throughout my career has been a belief in holistic healing and each person’s innate inner wisdom.

I am passionate about teaching the Enneagram. My work as a facilitator encourages participants to discover and work with the gifts and challenges of their type, allowing them the freedom to connect with their essential self and make new and life-affirming choices in their lives.

Discover Your Type – The First Step

The type that resonates with us determines what we pay attention to in life and where we place our energy. Observing different parts of ourselves allows us to determine our type and supports us in bringing positive changes into our lives, this improves the way we relate to ourselves and helps us gain understanding of the issues facing us.

Three Centers of Intelligence

The Enneagram describes three centers of intelligence – head, heart, body – each type has a home base in one of the three centers and perceives the world through this center. We all have these three centers and understanding our primary center is an important step in becoming aware of our strengths and blind spots and allows us to create a more balanced life and improve our relationships.

What Does the Enneagram Symbol Mean?

“Ennea” is Greek for nine, and “gram” means figure or something written. Therefore, the Enneagram is represented by a diagram of a nine-pointed star. Each point of the star represents a different personality type.

We have one primary type and are connected to four other types. As we move around the circle the points on either side of our primary type are called our wings and influence us. The lines in the diagram connect us with two other types and we move to the qualities of these types under different emotional conditions. In this way, the symbol of the Enneagram provides a map and addresses the complexity of human behavior.
